Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am Santos Javier, a dedicated community servant, who is running for State Representative in District 9. As a single parent, I understand the challenges of balancing work and family.

My story is one of hard work, and a deep commitment to the people of my community.

My journey began in the Dominican Republic. At the age of seven, my mother moved to Rhode Island with my family. I am the third of four siblings raised by a devoted single mother who instilled in me the values of perseverance and service. Growing up in a new country, I learned the importance of hard work and community support, shaping me into the dedicated individual, That I’m today. Educated in America, I always sought to give back to the community that welcomed me with open arms.

Professionally, I have made significant contributions through my work in banking and small business lending. In this role, I’ve helped many residents of our district achieve their dreams of homeownership and assisted numerous entrepreneurs in starting and operating their first businesses. My expertise in finance has equipped me with the knowledge to address economic challenges and promote growth within our community.

I also worked for Childhood Lead Action on Westminster Street, where I believe I made a profound impact on the lives of many. Through the weatherization program, I ensured that low-income families could stay warm during brutal winters and helped repair properties for homeowners in need. Most importantly, I primarily focused on lead abatement, significantly reducing lead exposure in children on hundreds of homes across Providence, particularly in the West End, Valley, Silverlake, and Olneyville areas.

I am Running this campaign, driven by a deep commitment to our community.  But First and foremost, I am running to serve you; I believe that public service is a noble calling, and I am dedicated to representing the interests of every resident in our district. My purpose is to be your voice in the state legislature, to listen to your concerns, and to work tirelessly to address the issues that matter most to you.

Our community in District 9 needs a leader who will take his job seriously, especially when it comes to housing, unemployment, healthcare, and education. This is why I need your support, and allow me, the steering wheel of our district, so I can steer it back on track. If you see me on the streets talk to me, approach me, call me or text me. I need your vote to be your voice, to fight your battles in the chambers of the House of Representatives, and to advocate for progressive Values, I will defend women's reproductive choice, I will voice minority rights, and LGBTQIA+ rights.
